Yingchuang classical work --- Shanghai Hongqiao Letter Center

Shanghai Hongqiao Letter Center is printed by Yingchuang Building Technique (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd, designed by MVRDV design office, which embodies the style of the different humanized family style buildings.

MVRDV, which competed with two other teams in 2013, won the region's architectural design and overall planning.  Urban life and pedestrian street and square will be planed to be built in the near the high-speed railway station and the fourth busiest Shanghai hongqiao airport in mainland China as well as  in the main areas of boulevards and highways, in a more intimate form. The overall planning of the first energy-saving office building has been completed, and the other nine office buildings will be completed by the beginning of 2016, providing 110,000 square meters of office buildings.

“The petal building is a milestone in our overall plan”, said Jacob van Rijs, co-founder and chief designer of MVRDV, “The building is at the entrance of a new subway station nearby, like the beacon for pedestrians. In the overall plan, we combine flexible office space with a village like urban planning to provide intimate and friendly outdoor space. The second phase of the project is under construction, and we will combine flexible office space with a village like urban planning to provide intimate and friendly outdoor space” .

The building merges the top of the four towers and creates intimate squares through the shadows between them. The ground floor of the building has large glass, which will have a retail space, while enabling the building to be able to flexibly connect the top floor of the four towers used by one or more different tenants. The building uses a round form to minimize the number of external walls and broaden the horizon.

The cantilever of the petal building, from the shading form, is connected to the small opening in the upper floor to reduce energy consumption, so as to gain the energy efficiency of the buildings. The white exterior, with a very light, but highly insulated GRC board, offers a subtle mobile grid expansion that is more open to the ground and reduces air conditioning demand.

Hongqiao central business district will achieve the highest ranking of the three stars in China's "green building tag". Sustainable architecture features include high performance of heat preservation, optimization of architectural form, the shadow of the space, natural ventilation, rainwater collection, permeable pavement, convenient public transportation and urban heat island effect reduction. All 10 buildings will also provide roof greening as a habitat for native species. MVRDV is currently under construction in China and HongKong. All projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2015 or early 2016.
