Expert advice: Formulate 3D printing architecture standard as soon as possible

Shi Dinghuan, president of China renewable energy society, said that We need to develop national standards for 3D printed buildings as soon as possible, paving the way for the spread of this innovative technology. “This standard is not only enterprise standards, regional standards, industry standards, and, more importantly will become the national standard, and even become the international standard, further promoting this technology.”

On the application level, 3D printing technology has been recognized by the industry. On the forum, Zhang Yin, vice president of the Shanghai branch of China construction science research institute said that 3D printing technology can save materials by 30% to 60%, save labor cost by 40% to 60%, and shorten the construction period by 60% in the process of construction, “According to the construction of 2 billion square meters per day in China, if 3D printing technology can be used on a large scale, it will greatly save time and labor.”

Hu Rong, deputy secretary of Qingshan district committee, Baotou city, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, said that, taking Baotou as an example, the production and construction season in the northern region is only eight months each year. For four months in a year, it is impossible to construct because of the climate, while the introduction of 3D printing technology can effectively shorten the construction time. At present, Baotou has introduced Yingchuang's 3D printing residence technology, and has been used as an emerging technology to transform northern traditional buildings.

Shi Dinghuan said that China's construction industry has always been a high-energy industry. In the process of China's gradual transition to green, low-carbon and circular economy, it is of great importance to guide the development of construction technology with the concept of green development. He stressed that China's 3D printing technology has come to the fore and is being used abroad. The technology should be supported by governments at all levels to help them improve further.
